WHAT ARE WE LEARNING IN CLASS?
Active Listening:
When we listen to the bird sounds and copy and move to them in Village, the water sounds and act them out in Our Time, and the creaking of the swing chains and guess what they are in Imagine That, we are learning to listen actively.
"Active listening is the process that goes beyond the physical act of hearing. It is an intellectual and emotional process that integrates a full range of inpus in a search for the meaning of and an understanding of a sender's message. It involves listening between the lines to hear what is not said as well as what is said. Active listening involves interaction and participation in the cycles of communication."- Early Childhood Education, Blending Theory. Blending Practice. By Lawrence J. Johnson, M.M. LaMontagne, Peggy M. Elgas, Anne M. Bauer
